Helping a Friend

Is your friend or girlfriend pregnant?  Your friend is very fortunate that you care enough to get the information he or she needs when possibly facing a crisis pregnancy.  Your friend may be very scared and uncertain about her present situation.  Maybe she is in a state of panic and is thinking of getting an abortion.  You need to know how to be the best friend she can have at this time.

The first step is to encourage her to confirm her pregnancy at our center. She doesn't need to make any decisions until she is sure that she is pregnant.  You are welcomed to come with her to the Center.  Our tests are free and your visit to the center is confidential.  Many of our pregnancy advocates have also been through a crisis pregnancy and understand how it feels.  Some have even chosen abortion in the past. Our assistance is caring and compassionate. We don't judge, preach or condemn anyone seeking our help.
When our clients have a positive pregnancy test we take time to provide them with detailed information about all their options, such as single parenting, marriage, adoption or abortion.  We also have many extensive support services. Many women initially feel like they have no other choice but to abort their babies. Our assistance and support services help many realize they do have the ability to single parent, get married, or place their baby for adoption. If your friend wants an abortion, encourage her to take the time to investigate all her options.  There is no reason to rush.  The panic felt is normal but can cause your friend to make a decision that she may regret.

If your friend is pregnant, please understand that her decision could affect you. There is no reason to rush or panic. Understand that many friends help others make wrong choices and later feel responsible.  In many cases, the pregnant woman made a decision she regretted and through her traumatic experience, had anger or resentment to friends who assisted in her decision.  This is a moment in time that you will remember forever.  Be sure that you are providing her with the best support available through our center’s services.  Encourage her to learn about all her options.  You will be able to look back with ease and be confident that you truly helped her in the best way possible during the most difficult season of her life.

If you are the father of the baby, visit our For Men page for more specific information.
